Were in Kentucky
Where do I start. We drove through the Mississippi delta yesterday up highway 49 and 61. Those are the blues highway. Went to BB King’s museum in Indianola. Fantastic. Met with Mario and Club 308. Club Ebony was closed but we still managed some pictures.
Then we drove up the highway and went to Clarksdale. Watermelon Slim was in town and showed up for a jam. Awesome! Olivier has soaked in the blues now so I have managed to convert him.
Left early this morning. As soon as we hit the Tennesse border the weather changed dramatically. Cold cold cold. From 80 degrees F to 40 in a day. We need to make sure our water line does not freeze up tonight.
Tomorrow, we will try to make as far as an RV park is opened or drive home straight. Hopefully the snow will be cleared by then.
Getting in to Louisiana
Georgie Boy is doing great. The weather is quite warm. Going through northern Louisiana and in to Natchez Mississippi. Strangest thing happened today. A client phoned me from San Antonio Texas for a basketball court. How weird is that. We were just leaving Austin Texas!!!!
Anyway heading up old highway 61 tomorrow. The blues highway! Gonna show Olivier the ropes of the blues.
Eating Texas steak on a little BBQ from Wal Mart. Wal Mart has become my temporary new best friend unfortunately. The RV gps was freaking out and I did not want to take a chance so needed to get a Garmin. Good move as the new RV GPS went on the fritz.
Am glad that were working all the bugs out before we head out across the country in April rolling out all those installs.
So far so good.
Breakdown
Blew a tire on highway. What’s great down here is you can get it fixed at a food store which sells tires and does repairs. Love it! Unfortunately had to get 2 so they match in wear. $400 and something. Hopefully that is all that will happen!
Leaving friends in Austin and heading north through northern Louisiana then Highway 61 through the Mississippi delta up to Memphis and on home. Did a little research not too many RV places open in winter! We’ll manage.
Sitting in Austin
Made it to Austin late yesterday afternoon. RV is running great and is very comfortable. We had a visit from our local Blues friends They dropped by and the rest is history. Hanging out until tomorrow so we can rest up from that drive through West Texas. Very inhospitable place in the winter I can only imagine what it’s like in the summer!
Dinner Time
Home made spaghetti! Arrabiata style. 18$ for full hook up! The problem with first timers like us is we don’t know what we need.
Forks spoons and knives.
Bowls!
As weird as it sounds a vacuum cleaner as the road makes a mess. Your always dragging shit in.
Anyway, we drove through West Texas and now we are east of the Pecos! Have not seen a rattle snake yet but there are a shit load of scorpions!
I can’t believe people phone for basketball court information on a Sunday but they do!
West Texas
Wow! Driving through theWest Texas plains listening to Led Zeppelin “In my time of Dying” and “When the levee breaks” I gotta say the beer REAL Coors non pasteurized taste great! No light beer for this cowboy.
Hot as hell!!!!
Georgie Boy holding up well. Tightening up a few things but overall good deal! Looking forward to getting to Austin tonight!
On to New Mexico
Just crossed the border in to New Mexico. Filled up at Flying J. Things are moving along but will have to find tools at home depot to keep everything tight. Sunny as hell and 50 degrees through the desert. Dan I think you might have struggled a bit with the RV amenities. A bit noisy but will work on that on the way hence the tools and duct tape!
First day on the road
Olivier flew in last night. Went out and had some great authentic Mexican food. RV is handling great and everything so far is working out. We’re on our way to Austin Texas. We’re gonna keep south as much as we can. Snow in the grand canyon. So the most south we can be the better, until we need to go up North. We will be posting pictures later on today.
